Buzz HeidtkeL.O. "Buzz" Heidtke

Mr. L. O. “Buzz” Heidtke, is a Nashville money manager and a TTU 1965 Business Management alumnus. Mr. Heidtke founded and manages the portfolio of MidSouth Investment Fund, L.P. He has been in the investment brokerage business for over 35 years and has been president of Heidtke & Co., since 1983. For 16 years he was Editor and Publisher of the Tennessee Investor newsletter and is Publisher of the CEONewsline and has been quoted in several financial publications including the Wall Street Journal, BusinessWeek and Dow Jones News Service.  The newly-created Eagle Financial Investments Center (EFIC) at the College of Business will have a new name thanks to a generous donation from one of the college’s major contributors. The construction of the EFIC is just one part of the college’s campaign to renovate Johnson Hall.  It is a state-of-the-art financial investments training laboratory that will ensure that College of Business students have the skills necessary to compete in the financial services industry, including careers in security trading, risk management, insurance and banking.

Helping bring this project to fruition is Buzz Heidtke as the naming of the EFIC is now half-completed with a generous donation of $150,000 from Buzz. This isn’t the first time that Mr. Heidtke has so heavily invested in the College of Business.  In 2003, Buzz presented a $100,000 donation to the COB to be used for investment training. The Heidtke Investment Fund and The Heidtke Professorship are named for Buzz and funded by the earnings from his initial donation.

In 2005, Buzz was the recipient of the College of Business Board of Trustees’ Louis Johnson Outstanding Alumnus Award that was established in 1980 to recognize graduates of the College of Business who have made significant contributions to business through any outlet worthy of social achievement.
