James Geer
Mr. Geer of Tennessee, graduated from TTU in 1961. He entered active duty with the U.S. Army. In May 1964, Geer joined the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) as a Special Agent. During his FBI Career he served in Illinois, California, Texas, and Washington D.C. and in numerous investigative and management positions. In 1972, Geer was placed on "loan" to the House Appropriations Committee of the Congress and spent approximately two years reviewing various military appropriations. Geer was appointed as an Assistant Director of the FBI and named to head the FBI's Laboratory Division in 1983 and was named as head of the FBI's Intelligence (now National Security) Division in 1985. Geer retired from the FBI in 1989 at the Senior Executive Service-6 Level and, thereafter, joined the Dupont Company as Director of Security fir the company's worldwide operations. He held this position until his retirement in 2000. Currently Geer is President of Geer Security Consulting International, Inc., which provides advisory services to a few select clients. He is a member of the University of California President's Council, chairs the Laboratory Security Panel and is a member of the Board on Professional Responsibility of the Delaware Supreme Court. Geer is the recipient of the National Intelligence Distinguished Service Medal and the Distinguished Service Award of the FBI Senior Executive Service.
