Tablet Initiative 2008-2009
Statement of Understanding/Agreement
The distribution of the Tablet PC computers is part of an initiative igniting innovative ideas for techniques in learning through tablet technology across multiple disciplines of Tennessee Technological University. The core of the initiative is that faculty who receive tablets willingly embrace new and innovative technology to discover the possibilities of adapting these tools to present and future methods of instruction.
Participant Qualifications
- Tenured or tenure-track faculty
- Call for Proposal Submission reviewed and accepted by committee.
Term
- One-year renewable contract.
Participating faculty enter into the following agreement with the University:
- Less Paper Classroom. Increase utilization in digital technology in assignments, evaluation and academic communication methods in your courses resulting in reduction of use of paper.
- Tablet Orientation. Attend orientation on Tablet PC computing
- Continued Training and Collaboration. Participate in further pedagological sessions offered throughout the academic year. Agree to collaborate with peers who are more experienced in adapting technology tools to instruction, and less experienced.
- Instruction. Incorporate and effectively utilize the Tablet PC for instruction in both the on-campus and online environment.
- Scholarship. Make a 5 to 10-minute audio and/or video cast expounding on experiences in tablet computing within three academic semesters. Use of these files is understood to be available to the Technology Institute for written or digital distribution.
- Written Report. Provide a written report to the director of the Institute each academic year. This report may also be used as an application for grant renewal and is due April 5, 2010.
- Date of Return. Equipment will be returned on or before May 7, 2010.
