    Another (incorrect) Architect Planting Diagram

    Answers:

bulletFirst of all, the hole is dug too deep and with loose soil below the root mass.
bulletThe hole is not as wide as we would recommend.
bulletThe trunk flare is shown below soil grade.
bulletMulch or backfill is shown up or onto the trunk of the tree.
bulletThe guy wires are shown strung too tightly to allow some trunk sway. 

 

bulletThis diagram does indicate proper backfilling: to fill the hole 2/3 full before the first tamping and watering.
bulletLet it settle before final backfilling and watering.
