Biographical Statement About the Authors:
Resume of Arboriculture Douglas earned his B.S. in
Renewable Natural Resources from the University of California, Davis (Go!
Mustangs), in 1970, and continued his training to earn an M.S. in Water
Resources Management from the University of Wisconsin, Madison (Yea, Badgers!),
in 1972. After traveling throughout America and many part-time jobs, he
completed his Ph.D. in Plant Science from the University of Georgia, Athens (uga,
uga, uga) in 1977. His first academic appointment was at the University of
Massachusetts, Amherst, as an Assistant Professor of Plant and Soil Sciences. He
is currently a Professor of Horticulture at Tennessee Technological University
in Cookeville, Tennessee. Douglas qualified as a Certified Arborist with the International Society of Arboriculture in 1997, and is registered as a Proctor and Tree Worker Evaluator. He has written numerous articles and presented professional seminars and workshops about arboricultural services and techniques. He is a member of the Tennessee Urban Forestry Council and has served on the Executive Committee as Secretary for five years. He has received the

Guy Zimmerman III graduated with a Bachelors degree in Forestry form the University of Tennessee. He is a Certified Arborist through the International Society of Arboriculture. He worked the last 25 years for the State of Tennessee as a forester. He is a charter member of both Tennessee Urban Forestry Council and Cookeville Tree Board and has served as President of both organizations. He is currently serving as treasure of the Cookeville Tree Board. He has served with the Tennessee Tree Farm Organization for the past 12 years as the District Chairman for the Upper Cumberland's. He has received the following honors:
Jeff earned his B.S. in Human Ecology with a concentration in Housing and Design from Tennessee Technological University in 1986 (GO GOLDEN EAGLES!). He continued his studies and in 1988 earned a Master of Science in Housing, Interior Design, and Resource Management (GO HOKIES- it’s a turkey OK!) from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. Jeff developed a keen interest in Computer Aided Drafting and Design and completed his major thesis in 1988. Thesis - Computer Utilization in Interior Design: A Comparative Study of Attitudes, Applications, and Equipment Usage in 1985 and 1988.In 1997, Jeff continued his studies and attained a Ph.D. in Education with a concentration in Workforce Education and Development from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale (GO SALUKIES- It’s a dog OK!) His dissertation involved an exploratory study regarding the uses of computer-based communications used as learning tools. Dissertation - Instructional Uses of Computer Based Communications in Selected University Learning Environments.Recent Employment History: 2000 - Present Associate Professor, School of Human Ecology, He has received the following honors:
