"The 1,140-acre park is located on the former estate of Henry H. Horton, 36th governor of Tennessee, along the shores of the Duck River. It features golf courses, inns and cabins, a restaurant, camping, swimming, picnic sites, and a skeet and trap range. The park is a sanctuary home to numerous plants and animals, rocks, minerals and artifacts. Among the other features of the park are the Wilhoite Mill, built around 1846, and the Hickory Ridge Nature Loop, along which visitors can see ferns, like the northern maidenhair and ebony spleenwort, or a seasonal stream that only flows during abundant rainfall."
(All information was provided by a brochure by the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation about the park.)
