Properties Boxes: You use Properties Boxes of elements to change certain characteristics of those elements. Most, but not all, elements have Properties Boxes. Some simulators also have Background, or Simulator, Properties Boxes. Important: You cannot interact with the simulator while a Properties Box is open.

To open an object's Properties Box, you must:

  1. Depress the Select button, then double-click on the element;
  2. With Select depressed, hold down the control key and click on the element; or
  3. Select the element and later type control-O (for Open).

You can also open an element's Properties Box by double-clicking on the button for the element. If you do this, you will not change the parameters of any objects you have already placed, but all new objects you place will have the parameters you specify.

To open the Simulator Background Properties Box, depress Select and either double-click or control-click on the background of the simulation window.

All Properties Boxes have four buttons:

  • OK: Changes in properties take effect and Properties Box closes.
  • Cancel: Cancels changes in properties and closes Properties Box.
  • Apply: Changes in properties take effect. Properties Box stays open.
  • Security: Instructor can hide or disable properties. Password: The security password you chose. The default password is .
