Course Shell Verification

 

 

 

Verify your upcoming semester course shell has been created.

This information is controlled by Banner.

 

Confirm course name

This information is controlled by Banner, however, you can modify the course name in the Course Offering Information screen of Course Administration. For combined courses, it is recommended to choose a name that corresponds to the individual courses combined together.

 

Confirm course start date

This information is controlled by Banner.

 

Confirm course end date

This information is controlled by Banner. We will update all course end dates at one time to extend approximately 2 weeks past the commencement date for that semester.

 

Confirm course active/inactive status

This information is controlled by Banner. If a course is inactive, normally this is due to the instructor not having the appropriate permissions or training.

Enroll

 

 

 

Enroll other instructors, TA's, course developers, etc. into courses

Please fill out the appropriate Faculty Request form to add others to your course.

Build Course Content

 

 

 

Build course content

Copy or import course components

 

Update all course dates (due dates, date restrictions, etc.)

Verify any other restrictions, selective releases, calendar dates, etc. Use the Manage Dates tool to edit dates in bulk.

 

Update dates in Content pages

Manually check or use the Manage Dates tool.

 

Update all course content and any problem areas

 

 

Add and verify Assignments

 

 

Add and verify Quizzes (preview)

 

Add and verify grade items and associations

 

 

Update Discussion areas and include your introduction

Introduce yourself, make it current (if you have an Introduction discussion)

 

Make sure everything is working within your course

Check links

 

Make sure all third party integrations are working

Publisher materials,

 

Add new welcome announcement (text/video/audio)

 

 

Update syllabus and schedule with all current semester information

 

 

Update orientation video or instructions

Student orientation videos, create custom course navigation

If you would like to remove a tool from the navbar, go to Course Management, then Course Admin and under Tools toggle the tool on or off.

Are the correct numbers of students enrolled?

 

Welcome email to students

Specify in your Syllabus, the welcome announcement or an email the email system you will be using for your class. iLearn or TTU Email.

 

Can end users forward email?

Please note that students can not respond to emails sent from iLearn to an external (non @elearn.tntech.edu) address. We have turned off the ability to forward email.
