I am Marie Williams, I am officially a has-been. I am former president of the Tennessee Center for Performance Excellence/ Tennessee Quality Award so that I had the pleasure of innovation, design, and implementation: What I call wound 2 and it’s not gone to tomb yet because it’s highly successful. An organization that encompassed skill building across all sectors. So, obviously I concur with David. Whether you’re not-for-profit, manufacturing service, healthcare or whatever, learn that tool. But for me, particularly with my sabbatical now and continuing business that I’ll do; learn language; learn multiple languages, not just southern English, but other languages. You don’t have to necessarily be superior in all of those but you’ve got to be able to communicate and understand culture of others. We have a great lifestyle, great standard of living, but it’s not the only one. So, that understanding of culture and language and requirements around the world is going to help you be able to identify how do you motivate, how do you get conformity and excellence, high performance and productivity; whether it’s in Podunk, Arkansas or Saipai and so, yes, do the education but learn the critical thinking skills and how to apply those in real life through language and culture.
