Women's Equality Day

On August 26, 1920, just 88 years ago, the women of this country won the right to vote. Displays commemorating the 72 year struggle to pass the 19th Amendment will be exhibited in the RUC lobby from 11am - 1pm both days.

This is the first meeting of this new discussion group. The chosen topic is "Gender Segregated or Pink Collar Jobs: Does society choose a person's career path?" All interested persons are welcome to attend.

Voter registration, address changes, forms, and information will be available. There is still time to register for the November elections. Sponsored by the American Association of University Women, the Nontraditional Student Organization and the Women's Center.

Love Your Body Day
Tech Pride Room, 11:00 am to noon

Celebrate and honor your body - no matter what size or shape you are. Today is the day to focus on positive body images and to resist degrading media advertisements.After a short presentation of Sex, Stereotypes and Beauty: The ABCs and Ds of Commercial Images of Women, participants will have the opportunity to design and create their own pageant sash while listening to fun music. Make a personal statement and partake of the many Love Your Body Day goodies while they last.

"The Right to Agree: Why Common Ground Eludes the Abortion Conflict in America "
7 pm, Derryberry Hall Auditorium

Cristina Page, author of How the Pro-Choice Movement Saved America, speaks about her personal efforts to build bridges with pro-life activists and outlines areas where there is common ground. She will also discuss the impact of US policy nationally and internationally. A question and answer session will follow. A Center Stage event hosted by the Women's Center.

One in Four Women's Program
7 pm in Derryberry Hall Auditorium

Women learn to identify situations at high risk for the occurrence of sexual assault, how to intervene to prevent a potential assault, and how to help a friend recover following a sexual assault.

The Great American Smokeout

One in Four Men's Program
11 am in Derryberry Hall Auditorium

Men are asked to be allies in the fight to end sexual violence. The program also hopes to help men better understand the role of consent in their own intimate encounters.

"Can I Kiss You?"
6 pm in Derryberry Hall Auditorium

Mike Domitrz will provide an entertaining and interactive presentation on relationships and hooking up.

Free and Confidential HIV/AIDS Testing and Information
10am - 1pm in the RUC lobby and Tech Pride Room

Chattanooga Cares will be providing free testing. The TTU Lambda Association will be selling red ribbons to raise funds for research as well as distributing informational brochures (provided by the Women's Center) in the RUC on 12/1 and 12/2.
