| Upper Cumberland Teachers Council
The Upper Cumberland Teachers Council (UCTC) is an umbrella organization incorporating five teacher groups distinguished according to discipline: (1) Sciences, (2) Mathematics, (3) English, (4) Foreign Languages, and (5) Social Sciences.
Membership in the UCTC is automatic for any teacher who is interested in one of these five disciplines and is affiliated with a school, community college, technical college, or university in the 20-county service area define by the Tennessee Department of Education (see the map at the bottom of this page). School and college administrators are considered ex officio members of the UCTC and are welcome to participate in any of its activities.
Each of the five groups creates opportunities for teachers at the various levels (preschool through college) to communicate about the content of their courses and the learning resources available to assist them in their work. The overall aim is to enhance learning and improve the progression of students from level to level.
The UCTC participates in the statewide P-16 initiative. For more on this initiative; see: http://www.tbr.state.tn.us/academic_affairs/p16/p16case.htm
