Dean S. Elkins stated it would be appropriate for us to take this concern back to TBR.
Motion. Dr. Hunter made a motion that Dr. Harris present our concerns to the RODP state-wide committee regarding the changing of "Software" to "Software Engineering." The motion was seconded by Dr. Matson and carried.
Transfer of Credits from the A.A.S. Degree to be Utilized in the B.S. Degree
The following was presented as an informational item:
Transcript only credit is proposed for the A.A.S. General Technology degrees that would be a part of the transfer credit toward degrees in Professional Studies or Interdisciplinary Studies. These would be the only degrees that would utilize this credit unless other degree programs wish to do so and have approval through the department and college.
For transcript credit, general categories of credit are recognized and awarded and placed on the transcript rather than taking course by course A.A.S. courses.
The incoming student completes 12-15 hours of bridge courses (usually designed with some general education and some upper division courses in the disciplines). Once these courses are completed with a C average, then the technology courses are transferred. The total number would be 20-30 hours depending on the amount of general education already completed.
The transcript credit will utilize some of the following examples of general
technology.
GCST Computer or
Systems Technologies
GBST Business
Technologies
GHCT Health Care
Technologies
GNST Nursing
Technologies
GHST Human Services
Technologies
GENT Engineering
Technologies
Example Credits:
1000-6 credits
1200 - 3 credits
1500 - 6 credits
2000 - 6 credits
2200 - 3 credits
2500 - 6 credits

Professor Tolbert stated that none of the proposals stated
how the changes will affect the goals of the department.
Some of the proposals do not need a statement because the changes are not
significant enough. Future proposals should include a statement on how the
changes affect department goals according to the guidelines.
(NOTE: A revised copy of the "Guidelines for Submitting
Proposals" contains guidelines for this statement.)
