Motion. Dean Armistead moved to approve the as the "initial" curriculum and send on to TBR with the implementation date of Fall 2004. The motion was seconded by Dean Musacchio and carried.
Approval of Course Addition from the Department of History
In a memorandum dated February 12, approval was requested for the following:
Course Addition:
HIST 1310 History of
Science
Lec. 3, Cr. 3
Survey of the development of scientific thought from the
ancient world to the 20th century.
Motion. Dr. Roberts moved to approve the addition effective Fall 2004. The motion was seconded by Dr. Northrup and carried.
Approval of Consolidation/New Degree from the Department of English
In a memorandum dated February 25, approval was requested for the following:
Consolidation/New Degree:
Consolidation of the B.S. in Professional Communication with
the B.S. in English-Journalism; renaming the B.S. in English-Journalism and the B.S. in
Professional Communication.
New degree will be B.S. in English-Communication
(B.S. in English-Communication curriculum on file in Office of the Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs.)
Motion. Dr. Eisen moved to approve the consolidation/new degree effective Fall 2003. The motion was seconded by Ms. Mannle and carried.
Approval of Curriculum Change from the Department of English
In a memorandum dated February 15, approval was requested for the following:

Prerequisite: ENGL 1020. Overview of skills and

Several committee members requested a course syllabus.
Motion. Dr. Eisen moved to approve the change effective Fall 2003. The motion was seconded by Dr. Shriner and carried.
Announcement of Nominating Committee for 2003-04 Chairperson
Dr. Bailey announced that Dr. Faw and Dr. Peach would serve as co-chairs of the nominating committee. They will present their nomination for the 2003-04 chairperson at the April 17 meeting.
Other Such Matters
A question was asked if there is a standard format for submitting the 120 hour curriculum changes how it should be broken down.
Prof. Tolbert stated it should be broken down by Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, and Senior year, showing the new curriculum changes. She stated a template would be devised to help submit changes.
