PROCEEDINGS

Approval of Agenda as Revised

    Dr. Bailey requested the agenda be revised to add an announcement by Dean Armistead as item #3, moving all other items down one position.

    Motion.  Dr. Loutzenheiser moved to approve the agenda as revised.  The motion was seconded by Dr. Wilson and carried.

Approval of October 24, 2002 Minutes as Corrected

   A correction was made to the number credit hours in MIT 2000.  The correct number of credit hours for MIT 2000 should read " 2."

    Motion.  Dr. Faw moved to approve the minutes as corrected.  The motion was seconded by Dr. Elsawy and carried.

Announcement of Catalog Deadlines

    Prof. Tolbert alerted the committee that changes for the new catalog will be needed at the April or September meetings.  Final acceptance of changes will be no later than October 2003.

Announcement of March 20 Called Meeting Addressing the General Education Core Program

    Dean Armistead stated at the March 20 meeting the general education sub-committee will present a recommendation of courses which will be considered as part of a state-wide core of general education programs.  He asked permission to distribute a copy of the complete course list for the 61 courses being proposed and a list of courses proposed to the sub-committee but not being recommended.

    The March 20 meeting will deal only with the general education core recommendations, with the exception of the Professional Communications curriculum, as a  TBR requirement, which is being taken out as a major.

   In a memorandum dated October 21, 2002, approval was requested for the following:

Dr. Bailey reported the mail ballot vote taken for the course addition of SOC  ANTH 2002 passed.

Approval of Curriculum Additions, Deletions and Changes from the Department of Music and Art

    In memorandums dated November 6 ( 4 memos) and January 22, approval was requested for the following:

    Change:
    Reduce the number of elective credits in the Bachelor of Music in Music Education, Vocal/General
    Certification, from four (4) to three (3).

    Bachelor of Music in Performance Vocal Option
    Additions:  Foreign Language, 12 semester hours

    Deletions:  Italian 1010, Italian 1020
                     German 1010 or French 1010
                     German 1020 or French 1020

    Changes:    Reduce the number of Foreign Language credits in the Bachelor of Music in 
    Performance, Vocal Option, from 14 semester hours to 12 semester hours.

    Changes:  To allow Bachelor of Music in Performance students to count additional hours in 
    performing ensembles as Elective credits (in excess of 12 semester hours).  Specifically, 
    allow the following number of additional ensemble semester hours in the following BM in

    Change:  In order to remain within the common rubric system established by the  TBR, 
    TTU's DSPM 0870, which is an online course allowing students to complete DSPM 0800 
    changed to DSPM 0880(Elementary Algebra) and DSPM 0850 (Intermediate Algebra) in the
    same term, has been changed to DSPM 0880.  

    Math 0990, which is the course used to remove a high school deficiency in geometry, has been 
    changed to DSPM 0990 and will be delivered through the Academic Development Program    
    beginning with the 2003/2004 academic year.

    Motion.  Prof. Tolbert moved to approve the addition and deletion effective fall 2003.  The motion was seconded by Ms. Mannle.

    A friendly amendment was accepted to change "Lec. 1, Lab. 1" to "Recitation 2."

    A vote was taken and the motion carried.  The addition will be forwarded on to the Academic Council for approval.

    The course provides a trans-cultural experience through international travel and self exploration to

    Motion.  Dean Musacchio moved to approve the addition effective spring 2003.  The motion was seconded by Mr. Good.

    In response to a question regarding contract hours in relation to lab hours, a friendly amendment was accepted to change the lab hours from "Lab.2" to "Lab. 6."

    A vote was taken and the motion carried.

    The meeting adjourned at 4:10 p.m.
