PROCEEDINGS
Approval of Agenda as Revised
Dr. Peach requested to revise the agenda as follows: Include additional memorandum to item 12 (Mathematics); under other such matters add memorandum from the Department of Music and Art and a memorandum from the Honors Program.
Motion. Prof. Hunter moved to approve the agenda as revised. The motion was seconded and the motion carried.
Dr. Peach informed the committee that the items voted on electronically in December 2001 from the Department of Biology, Chemical Engineering, Civil & Environmental Engineering, Industrial & Manufacturing Engineering and Mechanical Engineering would be added to the February 21 minutes.

Curriculum Change:
a. The goal of the School of Nursing is to reduce the number of hours required for graduation to 120 hours. This is in line with "Defining our Future" as set forth by the Tennessee Board of Regents.
b. The planned changes in the curriculum have been made with student input through student representatives on the departmental curriculum committee
c. There are no increased costs as a result of these curricular changes.
d. Evaluation will be ongoing through monitoring the results of the NCLEX licensure exam. Evaluation will also take place in 2004 by an outside accrediting body.
The School of Nursing respectfully requests a change in the curriculum requirements for a Baccalaureate Degree (University Catalog 2000, page 45-47). Specifically, we request the elimination of the requirement of a minor.
Motion. Dean Musacchio moved to approve the changes effective Fall 2002. The motion was seconded by Prof. Tolbert.
A friendly amendment was requested by Dr. Bode to add World Literature 2330 to the second semester of the sophomore year for the Class of 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2006. Dr. Brinker seconded the amendment.
A vote was taken and the motion carried as amended.
