Tennessee
Technological University, Department of Accounting and Business Law, invites
applications for the position of Department Chairperson to be filled at the rank
of associate or full professor with tenure. The Department of Accounting and Business Law has 8 tenure-track
Accounting Faculty and approximately 75 accounting graduates per year.
The Accounting Program has separate undergraduate and graduate AACSB
accreditation.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Doctorate in Accounting, or Business Administration with a major in
Accounting, from an AACSB accredited school.
Professional certification (CPA, CMA, CIA) and relevant professional work
experience in Accounting are highly desirable. Scholarly
and teaching achievements commensurate with the rank of associate or full
professor; demonstrated administrative capabilities; ability to accommodate and
coordinate the activities and views of faculty; and ability to interact
effectively with faculty, students, staff, administration, and external parties
are required.
ESSENTIAL
FUNCTIONS: The
chairperson is expected to (1) lead the faculty in determining curricular
matters, in developing academic and scholarly standards, and in long-range
planning; (2) serve as a communications channel between the faculty and
administration; (3) develop and implement the budget for the department; (4)
assist in the selection and evaluation of faculty; (5) foster the professional
development of faculty; (6) coordinate the counseling and guidance of department
majors; and (6) represent the department's views in the overall development of
university curricula. The
chairperson is also expected to assume an active role in teaching, scholarly
activity, and external relations.
SALARY:
Commensurate
with education and experience.
