ASSISTANT/ASSOCIATE
PROFESSOR (3 positions) – Center for Manufacturing Research

This
is full-time (nine-month), tenure-track position to begin August 1, 2003.
The Center for
Manufacturing Research (CMR) at Tennessee Technological University invites
applications for 2-3 tenure-track faculty positions at the assistant or
associate professor rank. The CMR
is an Accomplished Center of Excellence with partial support from the State of
Tennessee and housed in the College of Engineering at Tennessee Technological
University. The CMR employs 13 staff and faculty and conducts research in a
broad range of manufacturing related areas. The CMR supports over 13 Ph.D. and
40 M.S. students, with annual external funding averaging $1.5 million.
ESSENTIAL
FUNCTIONS: Successful
candidates will be expected to develop a nationally recognized, externally
funded research program that is characterized by production of supervised theses
and dissertations, journal publications, and successful proposals that attract
external funding to support their research program. Additional duties will
include the following: teaching responsibilities (1-2 classes per year); serving
on departmental, college, and university committees; participating in
professional and public service; developing and maintaining an effective working
relationship with faculty, students, administrators, staff, and external publics
of the Center; and communicating effectively.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Educational and Special Requirements: An earned doctorate in
an appropriate engineering, computer science, or related discipline is required.
The ability to perform the above duties is required. Expertise in one of the
following research areas:
Candidates are
required to have a demonstrated record of scholarly activity through
peer-reviewed publications. Candidates are also required to possess effective
communication skills. The potential of attracting and conducting extramurally
funded research projects is preferred. Some relevant teaching and industrial
experience is desirable.

qualifications.
