This is
full-time, academic-year (nine-month), tenure-track appointment to begin August
1, 2003.
Tennessee Technological University is a state supported
institution with an enrollment of approximately 8,900 students, located in
Cookeville, Tennessee, a city of 26,000. The School of Agriculture has 11
teaching faculty members and an enrollment of approximately 230 students.
Academic programs are offered in Agronomy and Soils, Environmental Agriscience,
Agribusiness Management, Agricultural Education and Communications, Agricultural
Engineering Technology, Animal and Pre-Veterinary Science, Horticulture, and
Nursery and Landscape Management.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Ph.D. with an emphasis in Soils required. Demonstrated ability to
communicate and work effectively with students and other faculty required.
Demonstrated excellence in undergraduate teaching and academic advising
preferred. Demonstrated performance in research, public service and scholarly
activities preferred. Demonstrated ability to work with alumni, and agricultural
groups and agencies preferred.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Teaching (80%) – Teach undergraduate courses in soils (including
Introductory Soils, Environmental Soil Science, Soil Fertility and Fertilizers,
Soil Classification). Advise undergraduates and coach soil judging team. Research
(10%) – Conduct research program in soil management, soil fertility, and
topics important to academic program. Service (10%) – Service to the
university and to the agricultural community of Tennessee.
OTHER FUNCTIONS:
Performs other duties as assigned.
SALARY:
Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
