QUALIFICATIONS:
Required: Undergraduate degree in a
computer or related field with two years relevant experience. (Relevant
systems-related experience may be substituted for required education on a three
years for one-year basis.)
Knowledge and experience in the administration of Windows NT/2000
Servers, Web Servers and Database Servers.
Knowledge of Windows 9x/NT/2000/XP workstations.
Knowledge of network protocols.
Demonstrated effective communications and interpersonal skills.
Good organization skills with the ability to pay close attention to
detail. Preferred:
Master’s degree in a computer or related field.
Knowledge of Windows, OpenVMS, MacOS, and Unix internals.
Knowledge of Windows 2000 Active Directory, Exchange 2000, IIS 5.0 and
SQL Server 2000. Relative certifications.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The position reports to the Systems Manager.
Provides operating system and system administration support to various
University servers including Windows 2000, Windows NT and OpenVMS.
Install, manage, maintain and trouble shoot system and layered products
on University servers, including Windows 2000 servers, web server products,
database server products, WebCT and other layered products. Monitor performance
and evaluate tuning factors to maintain effective user of servers. Provide
technical support to other ITS staff as it relates to the administration and use
of University servers.
SALARY AND BENEFITS:
Salary dependent on qualifications.
Benefits include the accumulation of two vacation days per month and one
sick leave day per month, and thirteen (13) University holidays. Other benefits
include medical and life insurance (shared cost with the university),
retirement, optional 401k and educational benefits.
