INSTRUCTIONAL TECHNOLOGY SPECIALIST -Information Technology Services

QUALIFICATIONS: Required: A bachelor's degree in computer science, management information systems, instructional technology, or related discipline, and two years of relevant experience. Knowledge of and experience in the use of instructional technology tools. Demonstrated communications and interpersonal skills. Strong service delivery/customer service orientation. Knowledge of MacOS and Windows. Desired: Advanced degree, experience in strategic planning for instructional technology, knowledge of web design and maintenance, knowledge of OpenVMS and Unix.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: This position reports to the Academic Computing Support Manager. The Instructional Technology Specialist provides assistance with the design and development of instructional systems and integration of technology into instruction; provides microcomputer support, troubleshooting hardware and software problems; supervises, schedules and directs student workers; handles new hardware acquisition for the unit and assists with planning for future computing; maintains computer labs and 21st Century Classrooms for the College of Education.

OTHER FUNCTIONS: Assist faculty with instructional technology tools, such as WebCT; assist with designing and implementing websites and web applications for various academic projects; plan, prepare, and present workshops and instructional training for faculty; assist with maintenance of servers within the unit.

SALARY AND BENEFITS: Dependent upon qualifications. Benefits include the accumulation of two vacation days per month and one sick leave day per month, and thirteen (13) University holidays. Other benefits include medical and life insurance (shared cost with the university), retirement, optional 401k and educational benefits.
