| Frequently
Asked Questions for Transfer Students
Q1.How do I get started? I've just arrived
on campus, now what do I do?
Advisement - First you need to meet with an
advisor and get advised. The department to which you have been
admitted can tell you who your advisor will be. It is a good idea
to bring a transcript of your college work with you to your advising
session.
Register - After you have been advised, you
will need to go to a computer and register. You can do this from
your home, in the Registration Center, or at any computer lab
on campus. (See "How to register on line" link; "Computer lab locations" link.)
Parking Permit – While in the Eagle Online
registration menu, you can select your parking permit. If it
is summer or spring
semester, you will need to pick up your parking permit in the
Safety and Security building. If it is fall semester and you
have a TTU
box, the permit will be mailed to you. If you do not have a
TTU box, you will need to pick up the permit at the Safety and
Security
building.
Meal plan - While in the Eagle Online registration
menu, you may also choose to select a meal plan. This will be put
onto your Eagle card via computer.
Eagle card - You will need to have your Eagle
card made in the Roaden University Center, room 230.
Residential Life - If you are living in a dorm,
you will need to check in with Residential Life in Mattie Sue Cooper
217.
Confirm/pay fees - Make sure you pay your
fees and confirm your schedule by the deadline on the University
calendar.
See "Confirm my schedule link."

Your password is CASE SENSITIVE so whether a character is typed as a capital or small letter matters to the system. Be sure the CAPS lock is off. No spaces or special characters , such as #, $, or %, are allowed. Also, you cannot use common English words found on the system dictionary. You could use the first letters of a phrase with some numbers, such as " I am here to Learn until 2009 " which would make your password: iahtLu2009
- Change your password here or do it as part of the first time you login in a PC Lab
- Enter your old password (initially this is your social security number)
- Enter your new password in both the New Password and Confirm Password boxes.

At some point during your current semester you will need to see
your advisor to be advised for the upcoming semester. During this
advising session you will receive your Registration Access Code
RAC. The code is reassigned each semester using different numbers.
Your advisor may contact you via email or regular mail to get
advised. The University calendar http://calendar.tntech.edu/ has
all the dates for advisement and registration, so check the calendar
frequently. If you don't hear from your advisor and it is advisement
week, stop by their office and see about being advised.
Advisement is when you sit down with your advisor and discuss
what classes you want to take for the next semester. Registration,
also called early course selection, begins the week after advisement.
You can be advised and register before the end of the current semester
so check the calendar for dates. To find out who your advisor is,
go to the "How do I find out who my advisor is" section of
this document.
Q22. How do I find out about Clubs and Organizations?

Q23. How do I activate my Voice mail in my dorm room?
If you are living in the dorms, it is extremely important that
you activate your voice mail right away.
Your 4-digit voice mailbox can be found by accessing your eagle
online account or by calling 3803.
Steps for Initialization:
- Dial 3000.
- When voice mail answers follow the prompts.
- The temporary security code is 111111.
If off campus you can reach the system by dialing 372-3000.
For students who live on campus, voice processing offers an additional
bonus. The voice processing system will answer your calls, give the
caller your personal greeting, and take important messages you might
have otherwise missed.
