Cross Cultural Communication/Cultural Diversity

Objectives
The first objective of this course is to increase our ability to communicate across cultures. In order to accomplish this we will explore the people, culture, history, and political economy of various cultures. By the conclusion of this course, we hope to better understand how to communicate in a culturally diverse world.
Methods and Requirements:
This course is going to use active learning strategies. This course will be a partnership between you the students and me the facilitator. Students are expected to take responsibility for their own learning. Each student will be responsible for leading one class session. However, all students are responsible for each class session. Therefore, attendance and class participation are mandatory. Points will be deducted for absences. Tardiness will be considered an absence. Points may also be deducted for non-participation. It is necessary that each student participate to the fullest extent in all classroom activities and assignments. Each time a student misses they are expected to complete a typed paper adequately covering the subject which they missed.
