The Annual Initiation and Awards Banquet was held Thursday, April 15, 2004, in the Executive Lounge and Dining Room of the Roaden University Center. The presentation of a record number of new members (13 in all) took place at 6:00 p. m. in the Executive Lounge. This was followed by a reception and banquet. Our visiting Sigma Xi Distinguished Lecturer this year was Dr. Gail Charnley of Health Risk Strategies in Washington, D. C. At the banquet, Dr. Charnley spoke on Protecting the Children: Risk Assessment, Risk Management, and Children's Environmental Health. Earlier in the day, she presented a public lecture entitled, Environmental Health Risks: Using Science to Shape Policy, in the Room 342 of the Roaden University Center.
