COOKEIVLLE, Tenn. (Feb. 25, 2008) — Tennessee Tech University is
hosting a performance by Belle Chantique, the top women’s choir
from Lawton Chiles High School in Tallahassee, Fla., at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday,
March 5, in the Wattenbarger Auditorium of the Bryan Fine Arts Building.
Directed by Tucker Biddlecomb, this advanced women’s ensemble is
by audition only and performs numerous concerts throughout the school
year.
“Students learn advanced vocal techniques from a large volume of
repertoire and strive for performance excellence. The ensemble often performs
outside of school for workshops, clinics and concerts,” said Craig
Zamer, director of choral activities at the university.
In November 2006, Belle Chantique was a featured performing ensemble
at the Florida state convention of the American Choral Directors Association,
and this year, the group has been invited to perform at the ACDA’s
southern division convention in Louisville, Ky.
The campus performance will be a preview of that convention concert,
and it will be free and open to the public.
Two instrumentalists — John Kirk on fiddle and Dan Duggan on hammered
dulcimer — are traveling and performing with the Belle Chantique
choir, and as part of the campus program, they will play a set of Appalachian
music.
For more information about the show, call Zamer at 931/372-3650.
