The Backdoor Playhouse will present Tony Kushner’s award-winning Angels in America Part Two: Perestroika, “a gay fantasia on national themes,” directed by Mark H. Creter, on April 17, 18, 19, 21, 22, 25 and 26 at 8:00 p.m., with special showings on April 24 at 10:00 p.m. and April 19 at 2:00 p.m. Tickets are $10 general admission, $8 for senior citizens and $5 for non-Tech students. Tech students get in free with student ID. The play is the winner of the 1993 Pulitzer Prize for Drama and the winner of the 1993 Tony Award for Best Play. John Wells will present his annual organ recital on Sunday, April 13, at 3 p.m.

Daniel Smith will present a tuba recital on Sunday, April 13, at 5 p.m.

There will be a university orchestra concert on Tuesday, April 15, at 7:30 p.m.

There will be a percussion ensemble concert on Wednesday, April 16, at 7:30 p.m.

A clarinet studio recital will be held on Thursday, April 17, at 7:30 p.m.

A clarinet chamber ensemble will be held on Thursday, April 17, at 8:30 p.m.

Erin Legard will present a junior voice recital on Friday, April 18, at 7:30 p.m.

Appalachian Center for Craft
David Brodeur’s graphic works exhibit, entitled “Weapons of Mass Rationalization,” will be shown April 18 through May 30 in Gallery Two.

Shelley Murney will present an exhibit in black and white landscape photography April 7 through May 2.

Window on the World (WOW) Symposium and Festival
A Window on the World (WOW) symposium will be held on Friday, April 18, at 10:10 a.m. at Tennessee Tech’s Roaden University Center. The topic for the symposium is U.S. - Iran relations. The WOW festival will then be held on Saturday, April 19, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. This is an international festival including the sights, sounds and tastes of the world. Ethnic food and crafts will be on sale. International music and dance will be performed on 2 stages and interactive displays will fill tables.

The Appalachian Center for Craft is located six miles off Hwy. 56 (Interstate 40, Exit 273) near Smithville. Hours are from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. The Joan Derryberry Art Gallery is located on the first floor of the University Center and is open to the public from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
