Flock to new TTU bird identification class  

Listen to the songs and calls of more than 80 species of birds in the Upper Cumberland with Tennessee Tech University professor Steve Stedman (right), joined by TTU English professor Michael O’Rourke, during a new class offered through the university’s Life-long Learning classes. The two-day class, May 22-23, will focus on identifying songs and calls of common and uncommon birds that breed in the region. Each class day will involve field trips to sites within 75 miles of Cookeville. The Saturday session will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. The Sunday session will run from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. The registration deadline is May 17; class size is limited. The cost is $100.
