COOKEVILLE, TN (Dec. 10, 2004) – Tennessee Tech University’s
College of Business has awarded its Outstanding Business Leadership Award
to Lonnie J. Stout II of Nashville and its Outstanding Alumnus Award to
Paul Scarlett of Murfreesboro.
The Outstanding Business Leadership Award is presented each year in recognition
of individuals or organizations that have merited success through contributions
in business relations.
The Louis Johnson Outstanding Alumnus Award recognizes TTU graduates
who’ve made significant contributions to business through any outlets
worthy of social achievement.
Stout has been chairman, president and chief executive officer of the
J. Alexander’s Corp. since 1986, and during that time, the business
has been recognized by Consumer Reports magazine as the top casual dining
restaurant in the nation and by Fortune Small Business magazine as 29th
in its list of 100 fastest growing small companies. He received his bachelor’s
degree in accounting from TTU in 1973.
Scarlett earned his bachelor’s degree in business management from
TTU in 1959. Among the positions he’s held throughout a nearly 40-year
career include general manager of public communications for the BellSouth
Corp. and vice president and general manager for Nashville’s Nextlink
Communications.
