General Information about SOAR

All admitted new incoming freshmen students will receive a letter in the mail in the spring inviting them to attend a SOAR session during the summer. All new incoming freshmen are required to attend a SOAR session. We encourage parents to attend with their student, but SOAR is not required for parents.

The summer orientation website Freshman SOAR has many details about the SOAR program, including attendance fees, agendas, frequently asked questions, and more. We recommend that both students and parents read the information on these sites to fully understand the SOAR program.

Please note: Space is limited at each session, so remind your student to decide on a SOAR session and reserve the date soon after receiving the SOAR letter in the mail. Reservations will be accepted starting on a certain date (to ensure that all admitted students have time to receive their mailed invitation letter), so please read the letter carefully for full instructions.
