How Orientation Works
The Orientation program at Tennessee Tech is an easy
way in which new students can get connected with the University,
other students, and their professors. The connection starts with
your Summer SOAR session in which students learn about the University
and their academic departments and also get a glimpse at student
life. Orientation continues when you move into the residence halls
this Fall with the Week of Welcome (WOW). During WOW you will be
assigned a Student Orientation Advisor (SOA) who will come to your
room and tell you about the group meetings where you will be teamed
with other students in your residence halls. The SOA will be your
guide for the first few days here at Tech. There are many events
in which you can meet students and find campus organizations that
have the same interests as you.
While Orientation is not mandatory, we highly recommend
that you attend as many events as possible in order to meet as many
people as you can and come to understand the way of life here at
TTU.
There is no sign up for Orientation/Welcome Week if
you live in the residence halls. An SOA will be assigned to you and
should contact you sometime on the Thursday the residence halls open.
If for some reason you haven't heard from your SOA, feel free to
contact the Office of Orientation Services on the 3rd floor of the
Roaden University Center (Room 339) and they will contact your SOA
for you. If you are a transfer or commuter student, you can stop
by the Office and they will put you in a group or give you a Welcome
Week schedule, whichever you prefer.
If you have any other questions about Orientation,
feel free to contact us via the information to the right.
Congratulations on your decision to attend Tennessee
Tech and we will see you at SOAR this
Summer and for WOW in the Fall!
