New TTU Pride campaign set for late August kick-off

Mark your calendar and get out the purple and gold to show your TTU Pride! Aug. 16-30 have been designated as TTU’s first-ever “Pride Days.”

The time frame coincides with the first day students move into the residence halls and concludes with the first home football game of the 2001 season.

“Initially, our efforts will focus on encouraging everyone to show his or her TTU pride by decorating their homes, offices or businesses with the university’s colors,” says Alisa Frazier, director of marketing. “This will also serve as a warm welcome to our new and returning students. Long term, we hope to develop more community events and strengthen our relationships in the Upper Cumberland region via the Pride Days campaign.”

To get things started, the university plans to distribute campaign-style yard signs imprinted with the new TTU logo to residents and business owners on a first-come, first-served basis.

“Those interested in participating should contact the Alumni Relations office for more information,” explains Alumni Relations Director Lee Wray. “And stay tuned for details of other Pride events, including some tied to the opening football game.”

For example, Aug. 30 has been designated as “Purple and Gold” day.

“We’re hoping the stands will be filled with a sea of purple and gold as the Golden Eagles take the field for the game that night,” adds Wray.
