Tennessee Tech is benefiting from partnering with the local Putnam County Chamber of Commerce in a number of recent marketing activities.
Last fall, TTU participated in the chambers Small Business Expo, using it as an opportunity to kick off efforts to encourage area businesses to show support for Tennessee Tech.
In conjunction with a push by our student alumni ambassadors, the move has proven quite successful as a number of businesses in the community proudly displayed purple and gold during Homecoming.
More recently, Tennessee Tech has been featured in several chamber publications.
One is a local magazine highlighting the special events and features in our community and the other is a new brochure being developed by the chamber and the Putnam County Travel Development Council.
The magazine, which is distributed through the chamber and at local hotels and rest areas, features Tennessee Tech prominently in its portrayal of educational and cultural opportunities in the region.
The new brochure will feature information about historic sites, cultural opportunities and sporting events both on and off campus.
The purpose of the brochure is to educate visitors about all there is to see and do in Cookeville, including Tennessee Tech, and encourage them to stay, says the countys Travel Development director, Marci Cisneros.
Initially, 25,000 copies of the brochure will be printed and distributed statewide.
They will be placed in racks at rest areas and in restaurants across the state. As a result, Tennessee Techs inclusion in the piece will likely assist in efforts to create greater awareness about the university.
With the universitys limited budget, working with the chamber and other community organizations allows us to make more of an impact, says TTUs director of marketing, Alisa Frazier. Were extremely grateful for having been given the opportunity to work with them and look forward to continuing to do so.
In addition to increased visibility in the community and across the state, Tennessee Tech also stands to benefit from partnering with the chamber in marketing initiatives through the development of stronger ties with the local business community.
