University Information
1. Students should be familiar with all Academic Regulations as
stated in the current Tennessee Tech Undergraduate Catalog ( Link
to www.tntech.edu/ugcat/2004).
Students are responsible for the proper completion of their academic
programs; for familiarity with requirements of the University Catalog
under which they intend to graduate; for maintaining the grade average
required; and for meeting all other degree requirements. A student
may receive counsel from an academic advisor; however, the final
responsibility remains that of the student.
The Tennessee Tech Undergraduate Catalog in effect at the time
the student enters the institution states the required curriculum
the
student must follow to complete the Bachelor of Music degree. The
Undergraduate Catalog lists the recommended sequence of courses
and the same sequence of courses for each specific degree option
appears
below. Degree requirements for all students, regardless of date
of enrollment in their curricula, may be subject to change before
the
publication of a new catalog when the implementation of curricular
changes is necessary to maintain quality programs. It is the student’s
responsibility to be familiar with the requirements of the curriculum
and to enroll in the correct courses in the proper sequence. The
student should discuss questions concerning registration with his/her
advisor.
2. University policy requires that students enroll in English courses
each semester until the 12-semester hour requirement is completed.
The prerequisite for English 1020 is a grade of "C" in
English 1010, and the prerequisite for a 2000-level English course
is a grade of "C" in English 1020.
3. Students whose QPA in required Freshman and Sophomore English
courses is below 2.0 must pass the English Qualifying Examination
(EQE) in order to graduate. Students need to register for the EQE
the first semester of their junior year. Students must take the exam,
which consists of a 500-word essay, in the semester immediately following
completion of the required English courses. Students who do not pass
must satisfactorily complete work in the Writing Lab before repeating
the exam.
4. Students must file the Application for Graduation during the
second semester of the junior year. Applications are available from
the Office of Graduation, 102 Derryberry Hall.
5. Seniors anticipating graduation must take the College BASE Examination
assessing the student’s accomplishment in general education.
The Tennessee Board of Regents requires this Examination. Students
register for this Examination in the Office of the Vice President
for Academic Affairs, 204 Derryberry Hall. There are no minimum score
requirements for graduation.
