TECH CHORALE

Repertoire ............ Auditions ............ Concerts ............ Members ......... Listen!

Tech Chorale is the premier choral ensemble on the campus of Tennessee Tech. Since it’s founding, Tech Chorale has gone by several different names, however it’s commitment to musical excellence has always been standard. Besides its regular on-campus concert season, Tech Chorale has performed around the state of Tennessee and abroad.

In the fall of 2004 the ensemble joined choirs from around the United States in a performance of the Mozart Coronation Mass in Carnegie Hall in New York, NY. In 2006 the Chorale was invited to perform at the Tennessee Music Educators Association conference held in Nashville, TN. The choir has toured Germany, Mexico, Austria, England, Scotland and Wales and has been invited to perform for the Music Educators National Conference, and the Southern Division of the American Choral Directors Association. Part of Chorale’s regular concert schedule, this ensemble performs annually with the Bryan Symphony Orchestra. Membership in this ensemble is by audition though it is open to all students of the university.

Chorale’s repertoire includes all genre of choral music from early Renaissance to contemporary. Most recently Chorale has participated in performances of Schubert’s: Mass in G Major and Puccini’s: Madame Butterfly. Chorale was also fortunate enough to participate in last year’s composer residency performing music of Paul Basler from the University of Florida. Tech Chorale performed the national debut of a new piece by Basler entitled: Embrace Creation. This coming season Chorale will perform Handel’s Coronation Anthem #4 “Let thy hand be Strengthened,” Haydn’s Te Deum and in the Spring will join the BSO and the Cookeville Mastersingers in a performance of Poulenc’s Gloria.

Chorale rehearses three times a week (MWF) for two hours (12:20-2:20pm). To schedule an audition please contact, Director of Choral Activities, Dr. Craig Zamer at czamer@tntech.edu or 931-372-3650.
