    Contains articles of interest registered nurses, particularly  those in the hospital environment.
  • Tennessee Nurse.  (bi-monthly, peer-reviewed)  1991-
    Each issue focuses on a particular issue facing the nursing profession.  A section is devoted to keeping nurses up-to-date in areas such as legislation, nursing management and legal issues.

    Provides a forum for scholarly debate and for research and theoretical papers. 

Online Research Databases

  • Academic OneFile.
    Contains 11,000 academic journals, including some peer-reviewed, full-text articles. Journal articles cover a wide range of subjects, including psychology and the social sciences.     Academic OneFile also contains full text of the New York Times, Financial Times, Times of London, and NPR Audio. Full text articles are available in both PDF and HTML format
  • CINAHL Full Text
    Provides indexing for 2,737 journals from the fields of nursing and allied health.  In addition, this database offers access to health care books, nursing dissertations, selected conference proceedings, standards of practice, educational software, audiovisuals and book chapters.
  • Health and Wellness Resource Center
    Indexes journals, pamphlets, and reference resources—most full-text.  Includes links to diet, cancer, and health assessment sites, as well as, government databases.
  • Health Reference Center Academic
    Allows one to access citations and full text articles in the many areas of health, general medicine, nutrition, and physical fitness.
  • Health Source:  Nursing/Academic Edition.
    Provides nearly 550 scholarly full text journals focusing on many medical disciplines. Health Source: Nursing/Academic Edition also features abstracts and indexing for nearly 850 journals. This database is updated twice a week.
  • General OneFile
    A one-stop mega-resource for journal and news articles—full-text, abstracts, citations and images—from all general interest areas and academic disciplines.
  • MEDLINE/PubMed
    PubMed  provides access to the MEDLINE database, which contains bibliographic citations and author abstracts from more than 4,800 biomedical journals published in the United States and 70 other countries.  Generally this database does not provide the full text, however, links to the full text are increasingly being added.
  • Nursing and Allied Health Collection.
    A 400-journal resource for nursing and allied health professionals, students, educators and researchers. Contains nearly 400 full text journals. Also refer to CINAHL for additional information resources covering nursing.
  • OmniFile Full-Text Mega Edition.
    A multi-disciplinary database providing the complete content - indexing, abstracts, and full-text from all of Wilson’s online databases.

    Serves as an evaluative guide to the most important sources of information in the medical sciences.

  • American Association of Critical-Care Nurses.
    Dedicated to creating a healthcare system driven by the needs of patients and families where acute and critical care nurses make their optimal contribution.
  • American Nurses Association.
    Represents 2.9 million registered nurses (RNs) through its 54 constituent member associations.  Advances the nursing profession by fostering high standards of nursing practice, promoting the economic and general welfare of nurses in the workplace, and by lobbying the Congress and regulatory agencies on health care issues affecting nurses and the public.
  • Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
