- The Association of Art Historians (AAH)
The organization was formed in 1974 to support and promote the study of art history. Members include professional art and design historians, researchers or students who are involved in education, galleries, museums and art-related publishing, or any other activity linked with art and design history.
- College Art Association
Founded in 1911, the College Art Association promotes excellence in scholarship and teaching in the history and criticism of the visual arts, and facilitates the exchange of ideas and information among those interested in art and history of art. Publications include Art Bulletin, Art Journal, and CAA Careers.

One can search for an artist using an alphabetical index of artists or by artist’s nationality or time frame.
- The Getty Museum
Allows one to browse many of the works on display at the Getty by name, object, theme, or topic. One can also view current or past exhibitions. There are also lesson plans and ideas for discussion on many aspects of art and art history.
- The Metropolitan Museum of Art
Includes a chronological, geographical, and thematic exploration of history of art from around the world, biographical materials on a selection of artists, and presents past and present cultures with special features on the Met’s collections and exhibitions.
- Smithsonian American Art Museum
America’s first federal art collection dedicated to the art and artists of the United States. The Smithsonian Online Exhibitions feature prize holdings from different eras in American history.
