Advanced Site Configuration

 

  1. Choose Edit Site from the Site option on the menu

 

  1. Choose Local Info and fill in the appropriate information.

 

 

3.  Choose Remote info and fill in the appropriate information

 

 

  1. Choose Cloaking and make the appropriate decisions

 

 

  1. Choose Design Notes and make the appropriate decisions

 

 

  1. Click OK and proceed

 

Creating a Template

 

  1. Begin with a new page

 

  1. Choose the layer option and begin to lay out your page

 

  1. Draw in your layers

 

 

4.  Layers can be resized once created.

 

5.  Click inside the banner layer and then click on the image select button

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

6.  Click in your side layer to add navigation.

 

 

7.  Choose the insert table button

 

 

 

 

8.  To make it a menu, choose “1” as the number of columns

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

9.  Enter the appropriate text and then turn it into a hyperlink.

 

10.  Click in the remaining layer, and from the Insert menu, choose Template Objects and Insert Editable Region.

 

11.  Dreamweaver then informs you that it will automatically convert this document to a template.  Once you have done this you CANNOT change the document type.

 

 

12.  You will then be asked to name the region.

 

 

13.  While the document is a template, it has not yet been saved as a document so you must do so.  Choose File>Save as Template…

 

14.  You will then be given the window below where you enter the name of the template and specify the site.

 

 

15.    Hit Save.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Creating a New page from a Template

 

1.  Choose File>New

 

 

2.  From the New window, choose the Templates tab, choose the site, and then which template to use.

 

 

  1.  Choose Create.

 

4.  The page which comes up cannot be edited except for the editable regions.

 

  1. Enter the appropriate text into your editable region.

 

 

  1. You can then save that page as one page in your website.

 

6.  Link the pages back through the template.
