Educators Scholarship Courses

Educators Scholarship Courses are free scholarship topic courses paid by the University and open to teachers in Tennessee Tech’s 41 county service area each fall semester on a first come, first served basis.  The courses are a collaborative effort on behalf of the College of Education, Department of Curriculum and Instruction and the School of Interdisciplinary Studies and Extended Education.

Educators Scholarship Courses are designed to address the technological needs of teachers in the classroom and while the course content changes each year, teachers can benefit from taking the class whether they are at the beginner’s or advanced level of ability.  Educators Scholarship facilitators are Technology Coordinators and other instructors who have a high level of technological proficiency and a desire to help other teachers learn how to adapt technology for instructional use.

Teachers have the option of taking the Educators Scholarship Courses on-site or online, although it’s recommended that first-time participants enroll in an on-site section.  Classes include approximately four face-to-face meetings between August and November, with some coursework being conducted onlin

Educators Scholarship Courses may be taken repeatedly, depending upon the needs of the teacher and space availability.  The courses can be taken up to three times or combined with other appropriate one-hour graduate courses to be used as elective credit in some advanced degree programs, such as Instructional Leadership.

Other one-hour graduate courses which meet the requirements for graduate elective credit in combination with Educators Scholarship Courses are CUED 5850, P-16 Mini-Workshops in Education offered each November and INSL 5280, Legal Aspects offered each April.

Educators who do not hold graduate degrees are also invited to take the Educators Scholarship Courses and may enroll in sections designated for undergraduates.
