Mac Users' Tip Sheet Compatible Browsers The best browsers to use on a Mac is Mozilla or Firefox. Mozilla is the more robust of the two browsers as some features are removed from Mozilla to create Firefox. Whether using Mozilla or Firefox, you will still need to allow Pop Ups when inside iLearn for certain tools to work properly, such as the Release Conditions and Grade tools. Mozilla is the recommended browser as it will solve all conflicts that occur with all versions of Internet Explorer for Macs, some aspects of Safari and the newest version of Firefox for Mac. These issues may include, but are not limited to: HTML Editor only allowing you to use the Code Writing View, inability to follow links, not being able to use Release Conditions and the Grade tool not saving properly. Firefox will solve most of the same issues but not all. Mozilla: Firefox: Exporting Grades The second largest issue facing Mac users occurs when
Instructors or TAs are "Exporting the Grade book". The
Mac Download Manager can sometimes strip away the file extension ".CSV".
Once the file is downloaded to your computer you will need to rename
it and manually type the .CSV on the file name. Then when you are saving
the file in Excel, you need to change the File Type to "CSV (Windows)".
See pictures below for how to use "Save As" and "File
Type" in Excel on a Mac.
