The Manage Files tool is the file management system for your course. Within this area, you can organize and upload files associated with your course offering.

There are 3 ways to access Manage Files:

1. From My Home , click the edit icon ( edit icon) beside your course name, then the Files icon on the navigation bar.

2. Click on the Edit Course link on your course navigation bar, then the Files icon on the navigation bar.

3. Click on the Content on your course navigation bar and then clock on the Manage Files link.

File Properties

File and folder properties such as size, type and date last modified are displayed. The T besides a file name indicates a file being used as a topic. The content topic name will be displayed beside the filename.

Open a File or Folder

To view a file already in the Manage Files area, click on the name of the file. It will open automatically as a new browser window. You may also see a prompt that asks you if you would like to open the file. Select open to view the file. If the file requires special software to be viewed, this software must already be installed on your computer for the file to open properly.

Create a New Folder

To create a new folder, click on the folder where you would like to add a new folder. If you would like to add the folder to your base course path, click on the "root" folder (located in the top left corner of the page). Select the New Folder icon ( new folder icon). A popup will display, where you can type your new folder name, select OK.

Copy/Paste a File or Folder

Check the box beside the folder or file you want to copy. On the top menu, click the Copy icon. Open the folder where you want to place the copied item. From the top menu, click the Paste icon. To select more than one file or folder to copy, click the corresponding boxes beside the files or folders and then select Copy and Paste .

Delete a File or Folder

Select the checkbox besides the file or folder you wish to erase. Select the Delete icon from the top menu. To delete multiple files or folders, select the corresponding check boxes and select the Delete icon.

Changing the name of a File or Folder

Select Rename icon beside the file or folder you wish to rename. Type in the name you wish to rename to, and select OK . Renaming a file that is currently used as a topic may create a broken link.

Uploading a File

The upload file icon within the Manage Files area allows you to select and upload a file from your computer to your iLearn site. You can upload most file types, however, some files need specific software to be viewed. Make sure students have the ability to obtain proper software to view files you post online.

Select the folder you want to upload the file to. Select the Upload icon from the top menu. Browse to find your file. Click the Upload button. Note that the directory is listed below the file.

Zipping Files

Clicking the Zip icon zip files button will compress the selected files into a zip file for you to download.

Select the checkboxes next to the files and folders that you wish to add to the zip file. Select the Zip icon and save the zip file to your computer.

Unzipping Files

The unzip icon will uncompress selected .zip files on the server. This is the best way to upload multiple files at once. Upload our zip folder (follow upload instructions). Select the unzip icon unzip icon, which will appear beside the zipped files.
