QUALIFICATIONS:
Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related field and must have research and teaching experience that qualifies them to be appointed at the rank of full professor with tenure.  The successful candidate will be an internationally recognized researcher with a significant publication record, a strong research funding record, and a track record of successful mentoring of graduate students.  The candidate must also have a commitment to the continued improvement of teaching, utilizing research-based practices and be able to interact effectively with students, faculty, and other Tennessee Tech (TTU) and Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) personnel.

This Distinguished Professorship seeks to establish and develop a strong collaborative research program incorporating TTU’s Computer Science and Computer Engineering programs and ORNL.  Thus, the preferred research areas are those that will facilitate collaboration among the TTU programs and faculty and that are aligned with the mission of ORNL.  TTU interests include computer architecture, distributed computing, high performance computing, knowledge discovery, network protocols, operating and runtime systems, reconfigurable logic and embedded computing, and cyber-security.  ORNL interests include cyber-security, all areas of high performance computing, and all areas of large-scale data analysis and knowledge discovery.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Designing, developing, and leading an aggressive research agenda that enables collaboration among the TTU programs and faculty and is aligned with the mission of ORNL, generating significant external funding, contributing to the teaching mission of both Computer Engineering and Computer Science, directing multiple graduate students at the M.S. and Ph.D. level, and providing public or professional service.

RANK AND SALARY:
Commensurate with a Distinguished Professorship.  Nationally competitive.  Includes long term support package with graduate assistantships, travel and equipment budget, office on campus and at ORNL, and access to high performance computing system housed at ORNL.
