QUALIFICATIONS: Must have a Ph.D. degree in history from an accredited institution by August 2009. Must be able to teach upper-division Modern European history courses. Must be able to teach European or World history survey sequence, or other general education courses in the humanities. Preference will be given to applicants willing to offer on-line courses or who otherwise best augment existing departmental specialties.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The successful candidate must: Develop and offer courses in Modern (post 1648) European History, excluding Britain and Russia; teach either the European or World History Survey sequence; develop a new course(s) that meets state requirements for Humanities general education; demonstrate a capacity for and interest in research; relate effectively with students, faculty and other University personnel; teach the typical department assignment of one large survey section, a smaller survey section, and an upper-division course each semester; demonstrate a commitment to the continued improvement of teaching, using research-based practices; advise students on academic and vocational matters; perform departmental administrative duties as assigned; and serve on faculty committees as assigned; demonstrate a commitment to internationalizing the curriculum and enhancing the global understanding of our students.
RANK AND SALARY:
Commensurate with education and experience.
