Tennessee Technological University is a state supported institution with an enrollment of approximately 10,000 students, located in Cookeville, Tennessee, a city of 26,000. The School of Agriculture has 11 teaching faculty members and an enrollment of approximately 215 students. Academic programs are offered in Agronomy and Soils, Environmental Agriscience, Agribusiness Management, Agricultural Education, Agricultural Communications, Agricultural Engineering Technology, Animal and Pre-Veterinary Science, Horticulture, Nursery and Landscape Management and Turfgrass Management.

QUALIFICATIONS:
An earned Ph.D with an emphasis in Animal Science required (must have completed all requirements for the Ph.D by date of employment). Demonstrated ability to communicate and work effectively with students, faculty, and staff required. Demonstrated potential for providing excellence in undergraduate teaching required. Demonstrated ability in research preferred.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Teaching (75%)
- Responsible for teaching a broad spectrum of undergraduate animal science courses including, but not limited to, Introductory Animal Science, and courses in animal nutrition, livestock evaluation, and livestock production and management. Serve as academic advisor for animal science and Pre-veterinary Science students and student organizations. Service (15%) - Recruiting and service to the university and to the agricultural community of Tennessee. Research (10%) - Conduct research program in successful candidate's area of expertise.

OTHER FUNCTIONS:
Possibilities exist to develop courses within faculty member's expertise including distance education courses. Performs other duties as assigned.

RANK AND SALARY:
Assistant/Associate Professor, salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.
