This is a full-time, grant-funded, twelve-month administrative position.  The position is renewable depending on employee performance and receipt of external funding.  If funds are secured, position will extend until June 30, 2011.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field with an emphasis in accounting.  Minimum of one (1) year accounting work experience; knowledge of accounting principles and practices particularly in the area of grants and contracts; ability to prepare, analyze, and interpret financial documents; ability to understand contractual provisions related to grants and contracts and monitor transactions for compliance with these provisions; ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply TTU policies and procedures; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships; ability to express ideas clearly and concisely; and excellent computer skills.   

Preferred:Governmental accounting knowledge and work experience; ability to use Word and Excel software packages, and knowledge of Banner software systems.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Primarily responsible for monitoring and reporting of American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA)/Stimulus funding.  Also responsible for all levels of grant activity including:  activating, monitoring, and budgeting federal, state, and private grant and restricted accounts; monitoring Time and Effort reports on ARRA funded projects to ensure compliance; administer unrestricted funds for any required matching costs on grants and contracts; advising and assisting project directors and their support staff, including identifying potential risks and responding accordingly; invoicing grantors; submitting monthly request for reimbursement of State ARRA funds thru Tennessee Board of Regents (TBR); electronic submission of data as required on contractual agreements; reconciling monthly accounting reports; preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports and year-end financial statements; preparation of various federal, state, and other agency surveys; effectively interpret federal and state guidelines, particularly 1512 reporting of ARRA funds and other Stimulus fund guidelines; serve as budget analyst for other University units; and in the absence of the Grant Accounting Manager, assume additional duties as needed to ensure the smooth running of the office.

SALARY AND BENEFITS:
Commensurate with qualifications and experience. Benefits include the accumulation of two vacation days per month and one sick leave day per month, and thirteen (13) University holidays.
