QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
A doctoral degree and master’s degree in nursing; or a doctoral degree in a related field with either a master’s in a nursing specialty or a post-graduate certificate in a clinical nursing specialty from an accredited institution.  Current or eligibility for an active, unencumbered Tennessee registered nurse license or the multistate licensure privilege to practice as a registered nurse in Tennessee.  Advanced Nursing Certification.  Educational preparation or experience in teaching and learning principles including curriculum development and administration.  Current knowledge of registered nursing practice and Advanced Nursing practice.  Minimum of three (3) years full-time teaching experience in an accredited school of nursing.  Candidate must demonstrate a successful and productive history of teaching, service, and scholarship of practice at the baccalaureate nursing level or higher with evidence of skill in interpersonal communication, good character, mature attitude, and professional integrity.

Preferred:Prior administrative experience including experience with budget development, strategic planning, goal-setting, faculty/staff evaluation, new program development and responsibility for physical spaces including simulation labs.  Current practice as a registered nurse and/or advanced practice nurse.  Demonstrated record of leadership in professional peer organizations and professional settings.  Evidence of ability to advocate for faculty, students, and the administration.  Experience with current use of technology in nursing education including simulators, web-enhanced instruction through D2L/iLearn or an equivalent, and other online-teaching methods.  Experience with accreditation, self-study process, program evaluation and standardized testing.  Experience with licensure requirements as set by the state boards of nursing.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Provide direction, coordination, and development of the School of Nursing and all programs sponsored by the School of Nursing, including the school’s role within the MSN RODP collaborative program.  Prepares and defends the annual budget, developing fee structures, and new position requests along with overseeing other operational activities related to the undergraduate and graduate programs within the School of Nursing.  Works with the faculty of the School of Nursing to keep the curriculum relevant and current to meet accreditation standards.  Recruits, retains, and evaluates faculty and staff.  Aids and supports the acquisition of additional resources to fulfill the mission and goals of the School of Nursing and effectively communicate program needs to university administration and the public.  Supports innovative teaching methods and faculty development.  Facilitates development of contractual agreements between the School of Nursing and clinical agencies.  Fosters a positive image of the School of Nursing among clinical agencies, the School of Nursing Development Council, professional organizations and groups as well as the local community of interest.  Fosters collaboration among university units.  Teaches within the undergraduate and graduate programs when needed and as administrative duties allow.

SALARY AND BENEFITS:
Academic rank and salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.  Benefits include the accumulation of two vacation days per month and one sick leave day per month, and thirteen (13) University holidays.
