Outstanding Human Ecology Alumni Award - Ms. Charlene Mullins

Our campus has changed significantly in the past 50 years, but one thing that’s been constant is the career of Charlene Mullins, an emeritus associate professor in Human Ecology. In recognition of her long service to the School of Human Ecology, Ms. Mullins was awarded the 2008/09 Outstanding Human Ecology Alumni Award.

“Mrs. Mullins is such an asset to the School of Human Ecology,” says Director Sue Bailey. “Her former students speak with fondness about her and recognize the worthiness of the education they received from her.”

The Mary Lee B. Stewart and William K. Stewart Scholarship Endowment Established

The Stewart Endowed Scholarship was established in March. The Stewarts established this scholarship as a testament to Mrs. Stewart's love for education. Mrs. Stewart attended Tennessee Tech for three years and then graduated from Winthrop College in South Carolina in 1937. Mrs. Stewart went on to head up the Home Economics Department of the New Hanover County School System. Recipient of the scholarship must be a prospective or current Human Ecology student in good standing in accordance with current institutional policies.
