Outright Gifts
Cash/Check
We do accept cash gifts but suggest that you not send cash through
the mail. Checks may be made payable to Tennessee Technological
University Foundation and mailed to:
University Development
TTU Box 5047
Cookeville, TN 38505
Directions for the use of the gift may
be annotated on the memo line of your check or provided via further
written instructions.
Stocks/Bonds/Mutual Funds
Appreciated securities are an excellent taxwise choice for making
a gift to TTU. The simplest way to make a gift of publicly traded
stocks, bonds, or mutual funds is to use your own broker, who may
hold your securities in certificate or "book entry" form.
Simply instruct your broker to transfer your securities into the
following Tennessee Technological University account:
Wachovia Securities
Account: 83014496
DTC: 0141
Contact: Todd McNab (931) 528-2474
Your broker may require you to authorize the transaction
by completing a short form. Although transfer time varies from broker
to broker, it should not take more than a few days to complete.
* We request that you inform Sharon Rader at (931) 372.3206
or srader@tntech.edu
of a pending stock transfer so that we may facilitate the process.

Tips for Gifts of Stock: The
value of your gift for tax purposes is not dependent upon Tennessee
Tech's sale of the stock. The amount of gift credit is equal to
the average of the high and low values of the stock on the date
of the gift. The date of the gift will vary depending upon which
transfer method you use. If you make your gift by wire, then the
gift date is the date the stock is transferred into Tennessee Tech's
account. If you mail your gift, then the date of the gift is the
date you place the stock certificate, stock/bond power, and letter
of authorization in the mail.
Gift-In-Kind
A gift-in-kind is a non-cash gift (equipment, materials, electronics,
etc.) of real value that represents a tangible benefit to the university.
The university welcomes gifts-in-kind. However, all gifts-in-kind
must be approved prior to acceptance, and the donor is responsible
for any appraisal and compliance with IRS requirements. Contact
anyone in University Development
for assistance in making a gift-in-kind.
Gifts of Time or Service
Tennessee Tech welcomes gifts of time or professional services,
loan of equipment, etc. Such gifts are recorded accordingly, and
a thank you letter is sent; however, no gift receipt is provided
due to IRS restrictions. |
