Second Degrees and General Education
1. Students who begin undergraduate studies at TTU
after having completed the baccalaureate
degree at another regionally accredited U.S. university and who,
in addition, desires a baccalaureate degree
from TTU will be regarded as having completed
their general education requirement at TTU, with two exceptions:
a. These students
must complete two semesters of American History (equivalent to TTU's
HIST 2010-2020) at the college level, in accordance with state
law, unless the second
degree is to be in Engineering and the student has completed an
academic-year course in
American History in secondary school.
b. These students must take any general education
courses that are required for progression
in their major programs.
2. Students who begin undergraduate studies at TTU
after having completed the baccalaureate
degree at a reputable*, non-U.S. university and who, in addition,
desires a baccalaureate degree from TTU
will be regarded as having completed their general education
requirement at TTU, with three exceptions:
a. These students
must complete ESL 1010, 1020, and/or pass the English Placement Test.
b. These students
must complete two semesters of American History (equivalent to TTU's
HIST 2010-2020) at the college level, in accordance with state
law, unless the second
degree is to be in Engineering and the student has completed an
academic-year course in
American History in secondary school.
c. These students
must take any general education courses that are required for progression
in their major programs.
*Whether or not the non-U.S. institution is "reputable" would
be determined through consultation with the Director of International
Student Affairs, the relevant TTU department chairs, and appropriate
faculty members.
