Daniel Hall

Daniel Hall was constructed in 1921 as a women's dormitory, and known as [Old] South Hall. It was remodelled in 1943; in 1951, a second unit, New South Hall, now know as Matthews Hall, was added. Daniel Hall was named in memory of Charles Denson Daniel, first dean of Tennessee Tech.

Daniel Hall is now the location of the Department of Sociology and Philosophy and the Criminal Justice program.

Accessibility Information:

Number of Floors: 4

Parking: Accessible parking is located on the South side of the building on East 7th Street.

Entrances: There are two accessible entrances. One is located on the South side of the building and has an automatic door opener. The other is a secondary accessible entrance and is located within the courtyard.

Elevators: The elevator is located in the middle of the building. The elevator accesses the 3 main floors only.

Stairs: Stairs are located on the North and South sides of the building. They access all 3 main floors of the building. Stairs that access the mechanical level in the basement are reached in the courtyard inside the enclosed area of Matthews-Daniel Hall. The basement level is not accessible.

Restrooms: There are two sets of accessible restrooms in Matthews-Daniel Hall. Women’s and men's restrooms are located on the North and South side of the first floor. The men’s and women's restrooms on the third floor are located on the West side of the building.

Rescue Assistance: There is an emergency phone located in the elevator cab.
