A primary purpose of the department is to offer strong
academic programs in the preparation of counselor education
and educational psychology. Graduate programs are offered
at both the Master of Arts and Educational Specialist
levels Educational Psychology and Counselor Education,
with a number of concentrations available in each of
these programs. The degree programs in Educational Psychology
and Counseling each consist of a counseling concentration,
appropriate cognate area, and a research component. Graduates
are prepared for careers in school counseling, agency
counseling, educational psychology, or school psychology.

DEPARTMENTAL OVERVIEW
The department houses graduate programs at the Master
of Arts and Educational Specialist levels in Curriculum
and Instruction, with concentrations in Curriculum, Early
Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Library Science,
Reading, Secondary Education, and Special Education.
The programs of Instructional Leadership, with concentrations
in Developmental and Administrative Studies, Elementary
Education, Health and Physical Education/Wellness, Materials
Supervision, Music Performance and Music Education, Reading,
Secondary Education, Special Education, and Technology
are also housed within the department.

DEPARTMENTAL OVERVIEW
The department houses a Master of Arts program in Exercise Science, Physical Education, and Wellness, with an area of emphasis in elementary
and middle school physical education, lifetime wellness,
and adaptive physical education, and is accredited by
the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher
Education (NCATE). The graduate program is designed to
offer professional training for teachers, coaches, and
wellness instructors.
