| Retaining the Lottery Scholarship
Awards
To retain a Lottery Scholarship, a student
must:
- Continue to meet requirements for the awards,
- Complete the FAFSA or Renewal FAFSA each academic year,
- Maintain continuous enrollment
(Continous enrollment is defined as consecutive Fall and Spring
semesters),
- Achieve corresponding GPA for the following benchmark levels:
Benchmark Levels
Grades will be checked at the following benchmarks:

During the semester a student reaches the attempted hours for the
benchmark and his/her GPA is below the assigned level, a student
will no longer be eligible for Tennessee Education Lottery Scholarship
funds.
Scholarships are no longer offered after 5 years from a student's
high school graduation or after 120 attempted hours, whichever comes
first.
If a student loses a lottery scholarship because of a low GPA, it may be possible to regain that scholarship at the next attempted hours benchmark. If a student ceases to be eligible for any Tennessee Education
Lottery Scholarship award for any reason other than low GPA at a benchmark, the student will not be
eligible to regain the award or become eligible for another TELS
award.
